Damn… then it goes down to a final fight between Ryo who is the reincarnation of an angel for god (yes that is in it) and vows to fight Akira the devil in a showdown on the side the world becomes almost unrecognizable of beyond nuclear fallout.
It becomes deep which I understood, then Ryo finally revealing himself after awhile and returning to Brazil where he first went with his discovery then does the unthinkable and exposes Akira as the Devilman and persuades a mob to hunt him down as his friends whom he had made defend to no avail going down in flames in the most brutal way imaginable. The world has become what you expect it becomes a 28 days later situation and everybody and everyone in the world is under surveillance of becoming said demons but a lot of them are murdered in some brutal fashion like Miki’s family when her younger brother is a demon and eats his mother, the father can’t do the deed but the military was willing to do that then of course worldwide the tensions has hit nuclear levels of devils as military officials in the navy and accusations of others. A few episodes later, Ryo launches a plan to expose another person who has become a devil that indivertibly gets the world’s attention, and everyone is under panic and thrown under the bus later. Yeah, it’s never brought up they are in a mafia, but they might as well, then Akira’s mother and father arrive only to get killed by a demon as Akira weeps Ryo tells him that it’ll get tougher and it does. Then the next day people have notice that Akira once a wimped turned into some teenage George Clooney and I hear girls sighing when I say that, also he becomes better at things with a minor catch he has to eat meat to maintain his diet of a Devilman so after that it becomes a chase between finding out who is Devilman for a few episodes for a minor newspaper reporter who ends up getting the axe and some underground mafia group who are devils. I’m not going to lie to you that there is A LOT of sexuality and drug content so let this be a reminder for one person if they want to watch this series, but anyway in mid blood lust Akira becomes the Devilman after a demon appears and devours everything in sight which I should beg to differ do these things have security? Probably not. In Devilman: Crybaby an ancient race of demons returns to earth with one option to take back the world from humans and to do so each person to become a demon is to have some sort of resentment or jealously feed into the victim or fear which is a good intriguing concept, as meanwhile our main star is Akira Fudo who is your average and basic high school student who is your wimp character who suddenly cries when something is in pain and has that ever since as a child, its not Peter Parker crying in the Spiderman movies but doesn’t dip into that territory only for a few minor moments while at the same time Ryo Asuka is a childhood friend of his who is a researcher who discovers a connection where the demons have been appearing so he informs Akira that to become a demon he has to kill people in a nightclub and feel great about it. Let’s go with the first meaning the story of the series. Now let’s get into my new rule set of these reviews if I do one:
Now this one was a very strong challenge to watch considering A) I never saw this series before and B) this thing does not pull any punches is a stretch of the imagination.
Hey what do you know, it’s time for another review blog this time I’m writing a review about Devilman and the recent Netflix adaptation called crybaby.
